Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
  • The document uses 1-inch margins, Times New Roman 12-point font, and is double-spaced.
  • All works should be submitted in American Psychological Association (APA) style unless authors have received prior approval from the journal editors to submit in an alternate format.
  • Footnotes, if included, are for comments or narrative asides, not references. Authors used Word's footnote feature to insert the notes.
  • Authors have prepared a complete and accurate bibliography and that it is properly formatted according to APA citation standards. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • With the exception of reviews, an abstract of 250 words or fewer is included.
  • Figures, tables, and illustrations should be embedded in works to facilitate the peer review process.

Research Articles

Priority will be given to research articles featuring findings from quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods research. These manuscripts are peer reviewed.

Theory Articles

Theory articles explore the relevance, significance and application of theoretical discussions of educational leadership ethics and values. These manuscripts are peer reviewed.

Book Reviews

Authors are invited to submit reviews of recently published books that explore issues related to the values and ethics in educational leadership and administration. Reviews should conform to the journal’s Review Guidelines. These manuscripts are not peer reviewed and submissions should be between 500-1,000 words, though manuscripts of alternate lengths will be considered. Book reviews are accepted and approved by the editorial team.

Literature Reviews

Literature reviews explore publications in a specific area of values and/or ethics in educational leadership and, through critique and analysis, provide readers with information on the latest trends and developments on the selected topic. These manuscripts are peer reviewed.
